Dr Slocum received his undergraduate education at LSU in Baton Rouge, LA. He was a Summa Cum Laude graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and he graduated in May 1979. He went to Medical School at LSU in New Orleans, where he was elected to the prestigious AOA honorary medical society. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree in May 1983. He did his OB/GYN residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS. There he was the Chief Administrative resident and graduated in June 1987. He has practiced at OB/Gyn Associates in Tupelo since that time. He is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and maintains the certification on a yearly basis.
Dr Slocum is a past chairman of the medical staff at NMMC. He has also served as the president of the Northeast Chapter of the Mississippi Medical Association and chairman of the Mississippi Section of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. His honors include the ‘Golden Tongue Blade’ award presented by NMMC and the ‘Free Clinic Roastee’ presented by the Antonne Tannehill Good Samaritan Free Clinic of Tupelo.
Dr Slocum no longer provides Obstetric care. He practices both Operative Gynecology and Office Gynecology.
Dr Slocum has been married to Yvette Slocum since 1983 and they have three grown children. They are both active members of All Saints Episcopal church in Tupelo.
